Development of paraffin hydrocarbons isomerization processes
Keywords: isomerization, paraffin hydrocarbons, octane number, chlorinated catalysts, zeolite (Zeolitic) catalysts, sulfated (sulphated) zirconia and tungsten catalysts, ecology (Environment), risk assessment analysis, operating costs (OPEX).
Abstract. An insight into the background of processes for С4 — С7 paraffin hydrocarbons isomerization is provided, from the first commercial introduction up to now. Attention is drawn to changing requirements for technologies and catalysts in response to the new industrial and environmental demands. Benchmarking, efficiency evaluation, operating reliability and risk assessment for different pentane-hexane cut isomerization technologies, as well as for n-butane isomerization process are presented. Application features of the various isomerization catalysts (chlorinated isomerization catalysts, catalysts based on sulfated metal oxides, and zeolite isomerization catalysts) are considered. Process diagrams of the most widespread commercial isomerization processes are presented. Operating experience is shown.
The environmental risks and the scope of waste generation when using chlorinated catalysts are considered; modern solutions to abandon the injection of chlorinating reagents and completely eliminate the waste generation for grassroot and operating plants are shown.
The latest trends in the development of isomerization process are presented. The solutions that reduce operating and capital costs for grassroot and operating facilities and eliminate production wastes and the associated environmental risks are among the new trends. New development trends for industrial processes are presented — С7 cut isomerization technology and technologies for production of individual paraffin hydrocarbons.

Current state of production of jet engine fuel
Keywords: jet engine fuels, anti-wear additive, antioxidant additive, jet engine fuel production technology.
Abstract. The article provides an analytical overview of the state of production and demand for jet engine fuel. Issues related to the production technology and component composition are considered.
The data on production volume of fuel for TS-1 and RT jet engines are presented and the main producers are listed. The main difference between T-8V and T-6 types of fuel created especially for military supersonic aircraft and TS-1 type of fuel is shown, and the needs of T-6 and T-8V types of fuel are assessed taking into account modern combat composition of the Russian Armed Forces.
The issue of different production technologies and composition of TS-1 fuel grade and the difference between TS-1 and RT fuel grades was raised. The list of foreign additives used in production, the use of which under the conditions of economic sanctions from the U.S. and the European Union makes the production of domestic jet engine fuels dependent on supplies from abroad is a potential threat to Russian national security. Possible ways of obtaining domestic fuel additives are presented.

Assessment of ability to varnish turbine oils
Keywords: turbine oils, varnish, antioxidants, remaining useful life, the method of voltammetry, potential for varnish formation, сolloidal systemк, ζ –potential, surfactant, micelle.
Abstract. The reasons for the formation of varnish deposits of turbine oils are determined. It is shown that the performance of turbine oils is determined by methods of ASTM D7843 (MPC) and ASTM D6971 (RUL) can be assessed, the process of formation of varnish deposits, the level of antioxidant properties, antioxidant content of, amend, and extend the oil change, and to predict critical situation in the operation of turbine equipment. The mechanism of formation of varnish deposits in turbine oils is proposed.

Development of thickened semi-synthetic engine oil M-5z / 20 AERO for four-stroke gasoline engines aircraft piston of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
Keywords: engine oil, piston engine, remotely-piloted aerial vehicle, UAV.
Abstract. Nowadays, the creation of remotely-piloted aerial vehicles for various purposes is regarded as one of the most relevant and promising trends of aircraft development. FAU «25 State Research Institute of Chemmotology of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation» have studied the operation features of aircraft piston engines and developed technical requirements for motor oil for piston four-stroke UAV engines, as well as a new engine oil M-5z/20 AERO in cooperation with NPP KVALITET, LLC. Based on the complex of qualification tests, the stated operational properties of the experimental-industrial batch of M-5z/20 AERO oil are generally confirmed.

Intensification of the process of obtaining basic bases as the basic components of low-curing lubricants
Keywords: modifying additive, raffinate, dewaxed oil
Abstract. Variants of the intensification of the solvent dewaxing process, which increase the yield of base oils, are described. One of the promising ways to improve the technical and economic indicators of the dewaxing process is the use of modifying additives. The work shows that the introduction of a polymer additive requires a decrease in the filtration rate and, accordingly, an increase in the performance of the dewaxing unit. This results in a petrolatum with a reduced oil content, which is a qualifying factor for the production of high-melting ceresins, protective-wax components, and lubricants for various purposes.

Multifunctional alkylphenolate additives to motor oils
Keywords: alkylphenol, formaldehyde, sodium-sulphide, condensation, corrosion, antioxidant properties, multifunctional additive.
Abstract. Sulphur-containing multifunctional additives 144 and 144d were synthesized and investigated, which are the calcium salt of the condensation product of alkylphenol with formaldehyde and sodium sulphide.
It was found that synthesized additives for their antioxidative and anticorrosive properties surpass the marketable analogues ЦИАТИМ-339 and ИXП-101.
The mechanism of antioxidant action of additives AKİ-144 and AKİ-144d in comparison with the industrial antioxidant Agidol-1 was also studied under simulative conditions. Comparative studies have shown that for antioxidant properties the synthesized additives are higher than Agidol-1.

The multifunction oil for US Army tank and automotive vehicles
Keywords: US Army, tank and automotive vehicles, engine, transmission, hydraulic system, standards, specification, multifunctional, climate, low viscosity oil, program, fuel, economy
Abstract. The U.S. Army has a desire to consolidate multiple MIL specification fluids into a single specification, or Single Common Powertrain Lubricant (SCPL) program. This program is seeking to develop an all-season (arctic to desert), fuel-efficient, multi-functional powertrain fluid with extended drain capabilities and designed to consolidate multiple military lubricant specifications into a single product, or single specification. This paper covers the long term field demonstration programs of the SCPL conducted three locations, representing basic, arctic, and desert climate conditions respectively. Overall the field demonstration for all three locations was considered successful. Real world military vehicle operation using SCPL did not show any differences from currently fielded MIL-PRF-2104 and MIL-PRF-46167 products. In addition, the durability of the SCPL over the one and two year test durations showed that the SCPL is capable of extended drain intervals than the current annual oil change recommendations. These results confirms that the SCPL is a drop in replacement, and is providing improved overall performance compared to currently fielded products. The use of low viscosity engine oil was shown to have a significant impact on fuel consumption: the difference between the current MIL-PRF-2104H SAE 15W-40 grade and the best experimental fluid had an improvement of 1.66% over the test cycle.
